8TH EXPEDITIONARY AIR MOBILITY SQUADRON

The 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron is located as a tenant unit on Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. The squadron is assigned to the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing headquartered at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Lineage:
Constituted as 8th Air Cargo Resupply Squadron on September 14, 1944 and activated ten days later. The squadron was inactivated on March 15, 1946. Twenty years later it was re-designated as 8th Military Airlift Support Squadron (mobile en route), which activated on May 3, 1966. The 8th MASS was organized in the Reserve on July 1, 1966 and later inactivated on July 1, 1973. It was redesignated once more as the 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Support Squadron, which activated on December 1, 1998 until March 15, 2001 when it was redesignated one final time to become the 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron.
