Col. Jordan P. Norman is the Commander, 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The wing provides en route aircraft maintenance, command and control, air transportation services, expeditionary aircrew support, and aeromedical evacuation for theater and strategic U.S. Transportation Command taskings. As the commander, Colonel Norman is responsible for nearly 2,000 deployed and permanent party Total Force Mobility Airmen organized in two groups with 19 operating locations spanning 5,000 miles across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Col. Norman hails from Smyrna, Tennessee, and entered the Air Force in 2001 as a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Tennessee State University. During his tenure in the United States Air Force, he has held various aircrew flying positions in the C-17A to include Instructor Pilot, Lead Airdrop Instructor, Special Operations Low Level II Left Seat Instructor, and Weapons Officer. He has served as the 7th Airlift Squadron Operations Officer and Commander, where he led and oversaw the training and readiness of combat aircrews operating the C-17A Globemaster III to provide responsive and professional global mobility in support of national security requirements. He also served as a C-17A Weapons Instructor Course Assistant Operations Officer, Phase Manager, and Instructor of Record where he was responsible for Weapons Instructor Course Assistant Operations Officer, Phase Manager, and Instructor of Record where he was responsible for the development of the nation's new Weapons Officers.
When at Headquarters Air Mobility Command, he served as Deputy Chief, Requirements Division, responsible for a $350 billion and 1,160 aircraft portfolio. In this capacity he directed the C-5 fleet Reliability Enhancement Re-Engine program, led the Air Force One recapitalization effort, drove an aggressive $53 billion KC-46 delivery schedule, and assured the viability of 13 Major Weapons Systems across 7 Commands and 12 Allied Nations. Following Senior Developmental Education, he served as CDRUSSOCOM's lead mission planner HQ USSOCOM, MacDill AFB, Fl, where he facilitated integration of Special Operations Force capabilities within the department, interagency, and with partner nations. He later served as the Commander, 305th Operations Group at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ, where he commanded 800 officers, enlisted, and civilian Airmen charged with operating 14 C-17 and 24 KC-46 aircraft in support of Combatant Commander objectives. He is a distinguished graduate of the C-17 Weapons Instructor Course, Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, Joint Advanced Warfighter School, and C-17 Initial Qualification. Colonel Norman is a command pilot with over 3,200 hours in the C-17A, T-1A, and T-37B.
