521st AMOG commander relieved of command

The 521st Air Mobility Operations Group commander, Col. Ryan Herman, was relieved of command on November 7, 2025, by the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing commander, Col. Jordan Norman, due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command.

The 521st Air Mobility Operations Group is headquartered on Naval Station Rota, Spain and has oversight of three squadrons. The group conducts en route operational support and aircraft maintenance, air mobility command and control, and aerial port operations to deploy and sustain the joint force in Africa, Asia, and Europe in support of national objectives.

Lt Col James Johnson, formerly the 521st AMOG Director of Operations, will serve as interim commander.
