727TH AIR MOBILITY SQUADRON

The 727th Air Mobility Squadron is located as a tenant unit on Royal Air Forces Mildenhall, England. The squadron is assigned to the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing headquartered at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Lineage:
The unit was originally constituted as the 627th Military Airlift Support Squadron on Dec. 27, 1965 and organized on Jan. 8, 1966. It was inactivated on Aug. 1, 1983 and redesignated as the 627th Airlift Support Squadron on June 1, 1992 which activated on Jan. 15, 1993. The 627th ASS was redesignated as 627th Air Mobility Support Squadron on July 1, 1994 and then one last time on March 15, 2001 as the 727th Air Mobility Squadron.
